What is your role at Primordial Genetics, and how long have you been on the team?
I joined PG as a Senior Scientist in April 2022.
What led you to join Primordial Genetics?
I had a very good feeling when I saw the job offer and the website for the first time. Also, I
wanted to start in a small company (I had only worked in academia until now), although I think
that PG will grow very fast.
What is one piece of advice for others in biotech careers/industry?
Especially for those who are starting their career, do not get impatient, science is unpredictable,
and, although you can predict your results to a certain extent, unexpected things always
happen, so do not get frustrated. A Spanish saying goes “la paciencia es la madre de la
ciencia,” which means “patience is the mother of science.” Although I have to say that I’m not
very patient…
When you aren’t in the lab, what do you like to do?
I have three small children, so I like to spend time with them. We like to go to the beach, to the
playgrounds… I also enjoy going out with friends and going to breweries for dinner and drinking
beers.
What are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?
I love reading; I always read at least 30 minutes every day before going to sleep, and always
when I have free time. Now I am reading “Aquitania” by Eva García Saenz, a Spanish writer; I’m
not sure if this book has been translated into English.
What is one place in the world you would like to visit and why?
In the near future, I would like to visit as many as possible places in Southern California.
There are so many beautiful places here, so we have to take advantage of the fact that we are
lucky enough to live here. But Australia and New Zealand are two countries that I would like to
visit sometime.
